| Manderley is the name of an estate in Daphne du Maurier's
novel Rebecca. I've not read the book, but I saw a film
adaptation, and something that's stuck with me is the way "Manderley"
was so often spoken wistfully, making it seem heavenly. This song is
about God, so I thought that was fitting. (as it turned out in the story, Manderley was anything but heavenly, but I've ignored that... hehe...) |

| [English] Oh I love you And what you've made All I take Cannot be paid Oh I touch See Feel the wind I wish you had stayed To try would be so near Oh I'm weaker From this height But am bold Feeling your might Air so clear Burning, but cold All's at stake I wish we would try To try would be so near Freezing cold Summer will be good Fold the blankets Lying so small And I'll smile When I'm awake Full of hope Forgetting that one Who must never be shown He must never be shown He speaks when I'm alone Splitting bits off me Knows I'm a hypocrite Knows how to turn me dull To all that I have seen Of you To try would be so near |
